Draka Elevator Products Provides Solution to Accurately Tension Wire Ropes
Draka Elevator Products now offers the Micelect Individual Load Weighing system that accurately measures rope tension/load electronically. When used with the MWR-4 or MWR-8 control units, one (1) WR sensor is installed on each rope with all the sensors connected in parallel to the control unit. Since the size of the WR sensor is incredibly small, problems of low overhead clearance are solved. The entire system not only provide the information needed to avoid uneven wearing of the ropes and sheaves, but they can be used for real-time monitoring of the car’s load. Overweight conditions can be detected and addressed immediately and the system can also be used to tell the elevator controller to activate other routines, such as hallcall bypass or presence detection (anti-nuisance). Draka Elevator Products Develops Wide-Loop Compensation Cable
Draka Elevator Products has developed a wide-loop version of the popular Whisper-Flex™ compensation cable called Steadi-Flex™ for use on elevators with greater than 400 feet of travel or with side-counterweight configured elevators that encounter leveling or balancing issues during operation. Steadi-Flex™ provides smooth operation at temperatures of 5°F to 140°F and can be used for elevators with rated speeds of up to 700 ft/min. Its wide-loop design allows for the compensation cable to be attached mid-car for better car balance and operation - significantly reducing need for static balance weights. For those installations requiring dampening for the Steadi-Flex™ cable, Draka’s EP recommends the ShallowSwayLess dampening device to minimize cable sway for car speeds above 350 ft/min.
“This is a very important addition to our increasing range of solutions for the elevator industry”, states Didier Kaczmarek, Applications Engineer at Draka Elevator Products. “Steadi-Flex™ provides an excellent remedy for elevator car balance issues at an extremely attractive price”.
