MEI

Since 1971, MEI has specialized in the manufacture, installation, modernization, and servicing of various types of elevators. Our manufactured equipment is found in nearly every US state as well as several foreign countries. In addition, we install, modernize, and service equipment within the five-state region.

MEI is a licensed, insured, and bonded elevator contractor and a member of the National Association of Elevator Contractors. Our equipment meets the requirements of the ANSI A17.1 code as well as state and local codes pertaining to elevators. It meets or exceeds the requirements of most elevator specifications.

We provide several packages for standard applications, but our specialty is in adapting our product to customer requirements. Every elevator produced by MEI is individually engineered. This process allows us to customize each application without costly fees or extensive lead times. Past work has included round and baseball-diamond-shaped passenger car platforms, 40,000# capacity freight cars, and 60,000# capacity truck lifts.

Currently, MEI manufactures about 800 elevators annually. A variety of passenger, freight, and service applications are built and shipped to locations in both the public and private sectors. Job sites include churches, schools, convention centers, hotel complexes, airport expansions, stadiums, hospitals, and industrial plants. Many of our customers are independent contractors, but we also provide equipment to major elevator companies.

MEI installs over 100 cars per year within the five-state area. Being involved first hand with job site challenges allows us to receive direct feedback from the mechanics working with our equipment. Our engineers also develop on-site expertise by visiting various projects during installation. Their comments and suggestions help us to minimize installation hassles by constantly improving our equipment.

MEI has gained a reputation as a reliable manufacturer of innovative elevator components and subsystems like Oil Coolers, Silencers, Submersible Power Units and the Pully Bully (a lift/puller for submersible pumps/motors). All these MEI components and subsystems are distributed by Draka Elevator Products.
